Today I finished this new Circle Series piece that I’ve been working on for a couple days, doing a tiny bit at a time to get it just so.
It’s funny how it came about. This whole series came to me in those moments after my head hits the pillow, but before I fall deep in sleep. I jolted out of bed and ran to my fridge where I had a dry erase board, and sketched out the concept. That was January of last year.
This particular piece also came to me in those moments before sleep, but earlier this week. I had been lying in bed, very still, as it takes me a loooong time to fall asleep. Matt was in bed on his laptop watching some hulu and he probably assumed I had been asleep for a long time. Instead this is the time when my mind comes up with my best ideas. I sprang out of bed, to his surprise, and ran to my studio, grabbed some supplies and then came back to bed. I turned the light on and just started working away. Matt was just a bit surprised and asked me if I was okay. I was more than okay, I was in the zone.
The ideas came to me, and instead of just trying to remember them, or sketching them down real quick in my sketchbook on my bedside table, I decided to just dive in. I only did a tiny bit that night but it got me excited and I’ve been wanting to finish it ever since. Today I finally found that chance and I love the results. A lot.
It’s in my etsy shop now :)

Hi, I'm Robyn and I was Hatched from a Kinder Surprise Egg. Graphic Designer by day, Maker of things by night. I have worked as a graphic artist professionally since I was 16 years old. Went on to get my Bachelors of Art from NIU. I like to share my Artwork online at flickr.com/photos/robayre and on my own personal website http://www.robayre.com. I also have an online shop http://www.robayre.etsy.com where you can find more of my "crafty" sorts of things, as well as a random piece of artwork here and there. Oh, and I'm also an occasional contributor to Artomat (artomat.org).
