Silk Screen Prints

Yesterday I worked on some silk-screening. Finished a few prints, but was having some issues so I put everything away and worked on inking in some of the pieces I finished. Today I decided to try and make more prints, taking time to cut better-sized paper. Of course every proof sheet I pulled looked perfect and every actual print I tried to pull, on the nice quality paper, sucked. They were bad, I mean real bad. Not salvageable. I guess I’ll have to make do with the few prints from yesterday. At any rate, I’ve added a couple of the first ones to the shop.

They were super fun to make and brought me back to my college days when I took a semester of independent study in serigraphy and did several pieces that I later water-colored in. Hopefully I’ll be making plenty more of different images, especially as I cleaned the screen after today’s frustrations. In the meantime, I still have a couple more prints from Monday yet to ink in.

Went on to get my Bachelors of Art from NIU. I like to share my Artwork online at flickr.com/photos/robayre and on my own personal website http://www.robayre.com. I also have an online shop http://www.robayre.etsy.com where you can find more of my "crafty" sorts of things, as well as a random piece of artwork here and there. Oh, and I'm also an occasional contributor to Artomat (artomat.org).
