I know I’ve read before in the blogging world that what I am about to do is a big NO-NO. I am going to blog about blogging.
I’ve really been struggling with what to post about nowadays. I used to have another blog, a moblog, that I posted to more regularly than this one. It’s sad because it was just a free textamerica site and I got a lot more hits there than I do here; on my very own website that I pay for. Even the hits from people’s random searches contributed a lot more than they do here. But, I feel like what I said over there was so much more interesting and entertaining. Well, quite a while ago Textamerica decided to no longer offer free pages and without notifying me, deleted my page. Fortunately I had backed up most of it, pictures and text. I decided to look back and see what I had to say back then in 2004. What was so important to say and why was I able to do it so readily without fear and inner doubt, like I do here? I think that it was because it was just a free site, and it didn’t really have an attachment to my name. With this site, I was hoping to be more professional and art centered, so I feel like what I blogged about before wouldn’t really be acceptable on this blog. What I have realized is that as time has gone on, I’m taking myself more and more seriously. A large portion of those posts before were complete silliness and fun and now I feel like I am just so rigid and stern and it ends up being more like a list of the things I have done. That equals boring and not fun. And it’s not just blogging, but in life. I will be around certain people that just make me laugh like crazy and I will realize that I haven’t laughed for real for so long. I need to get back to that fun, because this staleness makes me want to just pack up the whole shebang and disappear from “the internets” once and for all.
That being said, the song of the week is Rilo Kiley’s Breakin’ Up, which I have woken up with, in my head, EVERY SINGLE DAY this week. This version doesn’t have the best sound, but it was the only version I could find that played the entire song and wasn’t overpowered by the audience singing along, plus you get to see just how lovely Jenny Lewis is. Now if only I could embed the youtube video into this blog for people to watch right here and now.

Hi, I'm Robyn and I was Hatched from a Kinder Surprise Egg. Graphic Designer by day, Maker of things by night. I have worked as a graphic artist professionally since I was 16 years old. Went on to get my Bachelors of Art from NIU. I like to share my Artwork online at flickr.com/photos/robayre and on my own personal website http://www.robayre.com. I also have an online shop http://www.robayre.etsy.com where you can find more of my "crafty" sorts of things, as well as a random piece of artwork here and there. Oh, and I'm also an occasional contributor to Artomat (artomat.org).
