Late last week I found about this documentary called “Crazy Sexy Cancer” that aired on TLC. I missed it of course, but I have visited the website and REALLY want to see it now. You can see a 7 minute trailer on the website. I just wanted to share a short quote I pulled from the blog: “I used to think it was arrogant to show my happiness, like I was bragging if I shared the good things in my life. Have you ever felt like life is really trying to send you a message? Lately the message of “the power of positive thinking” has been everywhere I go. I know it is something I really struggle with. I want to be positive and I am so inspired and drawn to people who are infectious with positivity. I want to be that way. I really want to watch this documentary because it shows this crazy sexy woman who is struggling with an untreatable cancer and her positivity and determination to not let this disease end her life, in a literal and symbolic sense. A quick update on my friend Nikki: She is doing really well and has an appointment this Friday (I think)with her dr. to find out how things are going. This much she knows: the tumors have shrunk, but she doesn’t know if she will keep up with her treatment or need to have surgery. She is doing well enough that she was able to sign up for classes in her grad program this semester, her teachers will work with her as she will probably not be able to be physically there all the time.

This weekend Matt and I went to the Anderson Japanese Gardens in Rockford, Illinois. We were picture taking fools. Inspired by these two pictures I took, I got this idea in my head to start a collection of photos with “natural graffiti”. Images temporarily and naturally transposed onto other surfaces.

Lastly, I just wanted to shout out to Erin, who has just returned from a stay at the hospital and I hope is feeling much better.
