I’m so excited to announce I am starting a newsletter. It won’t be anything fancy, or too frequent – think quarterly, or at the most, monthly. It took me a while just to figure out how to set up the introductory email, but I finally figured it out and I’m so proud of myself. Who knew mailchimp was so complex?
I sat down one day with my ipad, without any plans in my head, and next thing I knew I had designed a stationery set. I love how it looks like it was drawn in pencil and had so much fun making those fake washi tape bits. My first thought of what to do with it was to give it away for free, so I’m offering it to those who sign up for my newsletter.
I’ve been told for so long that I need to start a newsletter, whether it be because blogs are going out of fashion, to professional recommendations from my surface pattern community. Well, the ever changing environment over on instagram has finally pushed me to finally take the leap. Why let a corporation control the connection I have with my fellow artists, friends and followers? I should have my own direct connection. I will still post here and on my various social media accounts, but hope that the newsletter will be that special direct connection to anyone that wants it.
I’d love to see if you use this stationery set, so tag me or message me if you do! Days after I released it I got one in the mail. Immediately I was afraid that a letter I sent on it had been returned to me, but it was actually being sent to me by my sister. She wrote the actual letter in pencil and noted how it looked like she was the one that drew all the drawings around the border because it matched with her pencil so well.

Hi, I'm Robyn and I was Hatched from a Kinder Surprise Egg. Graphic Designer by day, Maker of things by night. I have worked as a graphic artist professionally since I was 16 years old. Went on to get my Bachelors of Art from NIU. I like to share my Artwork online at flickr.com/photos/robayre and on my own personal website http://www.robayre.com. I also have an online shop http://www.robayre.etsy.com where you can find more of my "crafty" sorts of things, as well as a random piece of artwork here and there. Oh, and I'm also an occasional contributor to Artomat (artomat.org).
