I have two interviews I’d love to share.
My friend Erin, an Artist “of-all-trades”, was interviewed for the Printsy website. She has been focusing a lot on printmaking lately, and you can read the article here. It’s great to see her work evolve and yet stay so true to her own style.
The next interview is from my Everyday Create group. Bri, who has the wonderful and inspiring blog The Craft Begins, interviewed fellow Everyday Creator Tiffany, right here. Also, there was a follow up in the next post, that is also worth the read, where Tiffany sent in an additional response, very entertaining.

I never mentioned how we went to see Coraline Valentine’s day weekend. I was so inspired by it. The movie, I think, is a combination of 3D diaramas and digital animation. I left the theater really wanting to do something 3D. I have really fallen in love with the detail and passion that goes into setting up stop-motion films ever since seeing Blood Tea and Red String. You might recall seeing my own little attempt at stop motion here. Seeing Coraline has lit a little fire under me to actually create a little world, not necessarily a movie, but maybe just a dimensional space with detail and character. Dioramas like this and this have also provided ample inspiration.
Another thing that inspired me about the movie was the outfit that Coraline’s Other Mother made for her. Immediately I thought how there will probably be so many kids going as Coraline come halloween this year. This thought was then followed with, heck, I want a Coraline outfit for myself, and not just for halloween, but for everyday. I was so excited about making my own Coraline sweater when my sister shared with me these links for patterns that are already going around on making that sweater, SWEET! I probably won’t be knitting my own, like in this pattern, but just picking one up a navy sweater at the Salvation Army and then sewing on patches. Also, mine won’t be as small as this one. And here is even a pattern for Coraline’s gloves.

Things that have made me happy:
-Having some of the greatest online friends ever.
-Sending in my paintings finally and then putting together my video, finishing it and putting it on “the youtubes” (said in a grandparent voice)
-Eating the best sushi in the world. It was so good, after so much of the subpar local and mass marketed grocery store varieties, that we literally High Fived afterward. Yes, the sushi was so good it was high-five worthy.
Things that brought tears to my eyes:
–This video. David after the Dentist. I read there is a controversy about the dad putting it on the internet. I don’t see that it was done maliciously or meant to be damaging, so I don’t agree with the controversy. But, it’s not funny at all to me, it made me tear up at the end he says he feels funny and asked if it was going to be like that forever. How scary and confusing to a small child who doesn’t know what is going on, ya know?
–This post by HulaSeventy: it was the lost ring and the pink balloons that did it for me. Now I want to go out and buy some balloons to put in the house. Flowers are overdone, lets get some balloons to decorate the house with, k? Don’t we all root for balloons to hang high and hope that tomorrow they will droop no lower?

Hi, I'm Robyn and I was Hatched from a Kinder Surprise Egg. Graphic Designer by day, Maker of things by night. I have worked as a graphic artist professionally since I was 16 years old. Went on to get my Bachelors of Art from NIU. I like to share my Artwork online at flickr.com/photos/robayre and on my own personal website http://www.robayre.com. I also have an online shop http://www.robayre.etsy.com where you can find more of my "crafty" sorts of things, as well as a random piece of artwork here and there. Oh, and I'm also an occasional contributor to Artomat (artomat.org).
